Proenza Schouler Welcomes Rachel Scott as Creative Director
Proenza Schouler has named Rachel Scott, the Jamaican-born designer behind Diotima, as its new creative director. This marks a bold new chapter for the New York fashion house, known for shaping modern American luxury.
Scott’s appointment signals more than just a change in leadership. It represents a shift toward global vision, cultural depth, and a fresh voice in luxury fashion. Her debut collection for the brand will be Fall/Winter 2026, set to reveal in February.
“Rachel brings a fresh, female perspective to the modern American woman we’ve always championed,” said CEO Shira Suveyke Snyder. The brand’s founders, Lazaro Hernandez and Jack McCollough, praised her “impressive trajectory” and expressed confidence in her ability to carry forward their legacy.
A Jamaican Voice in Global Luxury Fashion
For Rachel Scott, the moment is both personal and historic. Born in Jamaica, she carries her Caribbean roots into every design. Her work blends craft, sensual tailoring, and global sophistication—qualities that will now shape the identity of Proenza Schouler.
Scott shared her gratitude and vision, stating, “I hold deep respect for the world Jack and Lazaro so brilliantly crafted, and I look forward to bringing my perspective in dialogue with their legacy.”
Her presence in this role also ensures that a distinctly Black Caribbean voice is now firmly etched into American fashion history. It is a milestone not just for Proenza Schouler, but for the industry at large.
From Diotima to the Helm of Proenza Schouler
Before joining Proenza Schouler, Scott had already built a powerful reputation with her brand Diotima. Launched in 2021, Diotima became known for intricate crochet pieces, tailored silhouettes, and its Caribbean-meets-global aesthetic.
Within only a few years, she won multiple awards, including CFDA Emerging Designer of the Year in 2023 and Womenswear Designer of the Year in 2024. In 2025, she added the Fashion Trust U.S. Ready-to-Wear Award to her list of achievements.
Her design career also includes experience at Costume National in Milan and as Vice President of Design at Rachel Comey in New York. This mix of international training and personal heritage has shaped her as a designer ready to lead a global fashion powerhouse.
The Future of American Luxury Under Rachel Scott
Rachel Scott’s creative leadership signals a new era for Proenza Schouler. While the house has always been rooted in downtown New York cool, Scott’s vision promises to expand those codes without losing their edge.
Her blend of technical rigor, cultural storytelling, and modern femininity may redefine what “New American Luxury” means in the years ahead. Industry insiders are already watching closely, anticipating her first official collection in 2026.
With this appointment, Proenza Schouler is not only protecting its legacy—it is opening the door to a reimagined future. One built on craft, innovation, and the power of global perspectives, led by a Jamaican designer making history.
