Angel Reese Uses Criticism to Make a Positive Impact
Angel Reese is turning a negative nickname into a powerful message. The WNBA star launched a new clothing line called Mebounds, inspired by online jokes about her rebounding style. Instead of letting the insult hurt her, Reese trademarked the term and turned it into a way to raise money for cyberbullying prevention.
A portion of sales from the Mebounds merch will go to The Angel C. Reese Foundation. This group works to stop cyberbullying and support youth in need. Items in the collection include hats, sweatshirts, T-shirts, and slides, with prices ranging from $28 to $75.
Turning “Mebounds” Into a Movement
Reese first filed the Mebounds trademark on June 14. She followed it up with another application for Reesebounds six days later. She explained her idea in a fun TikTok video, saying, “Anything that comes off that board, it’s mine… and a brand? That’s six figures right there.”
Critics once mocked Reese for grabbing her own missed shots, calling them “mebounds.” But she flipped the narrative, showing how confidence and creativity can change the game. Now, the term stands for ownership, hustle, and helping others.
A Star Athlete and Smart Businesswoman
Reese is only in her second WNBA season, but she’s already breaking records. She holds the most rebounds in the first 50 games of a WNBA career. She’s also the fastest player ever to reach 500 points and 500 rebounds, doing it in just 38 games.
Her current stats are impressive. She’s averaging 11.7 points, 12.3 rebounds, 3.6 assists, and 1.8 steals per game. On June 15, she recorded her first triple-double. She’s clearly proving that her skills go beyond rebounding.
Earning Respect and Expanding Her Role
Under new head coach Tyler Marsh, Reese is being used in new ways. Like stars A’ja Wilson and Breanna Stewart, she now helps start the offense after pulling down a rebound. It’s a big responsibility, but Reese is stepping up.
Her growth is also thanks to having more experienced teammates this year. Coach Marsh said veterans are helping guide her. “You can’t put a price on that kind of experience,” he noted. “We don’t want to limit Reese to just being a rebounder—her potential is much more than that.”
Building Her Brand While Supporting a Cause
Angel Reese is proving she’s more than an athlete. She’s using her name, talent, and creativity to give back. With the Mebounds merch line, she’s not only expanding her brand but also making a real difference in the fight against online bullying.
Fans who once laughed at the term are now proudly wearing it. That’s the power of owning your story—and Reese is showing how to do it with purpose and pride.
