Rihanna hits 50 billion Spotify streams without a new album

Rihanna has crossed an incredible milestone. The superstar is now the first Black woman to reach over 50 billion streams on Spotify. This record includes both her solo tracks and collaborations across more than 15 years.

Chart Data confirmed the news on Wednesday. The number puts Rihanna in an elite group of artists who have reached this level of streaming. She joins names like Drake, The Weeknd, and Taylor Swift.

A decade-long wait since Anti

What makes this feat even more remarkable is that Rihanna hasn’t released a full album since 2016. Her last studio project, Anti, came out nine years ago. Yet it continues to pull massive streaming numbers.

Songs like “Work,” “Needed Me,” and “Love on the Brain” still dominate playlists worldwide. Anti has become one of the most streamed R&B albums by a female artist.

New music from soundtracks only

Since Anti, Rihanna has only released a few songs. “Lift Me Up” from Black Panther: Wakanda Forever in 2022 earned an Oscar nomination. Her most recent song, “Friend of Mine,” appeared on the Smurfs soundtrack in May 2025.

Though not part of an album, both songs remind fans of Rihanna’s unmatched voice and global appeal. They also hint at what might come next.

Rihanna balances music, motherhood, and business

Between 2022 and 2025, Rihanna became a mother of three with partner A$AP Rocky. While raising her children, she also expanded her business empire. Her brands include Fenty Beauty, Savage X Fenty, and Fenty Skin.

She manages motherhood, music, and business with grace. Fans often praise how she stays true to herself while inspiring others.

Fans still waiting for R9

Rihanna’s fanbase, known as the Navy, has been eagerly waiting for her ninth studio album. Dubbed R9, the album has been teased over the years but never released.

She once joked fans “wouldn’t be ready” for the Caribbean and dancehall sounds she’s been working on. Hints of new music keep hope alive, especially after her 2023 Super Bowl performance.

Why this milestone is important

Rihanna’s achievement is more than just a number. She reached 50 billion streams without staying musically active, showing true staying power.

She also becomes the first Black woman to do it. This matters in an industry where Black women often face lower visibility and recognition. Her success sets a powerful example.

The Navy reacts with love and excitement

Fans flooded social media with support. Hashtags like #Rihanna50Billion and #R9When trended quickly. Many praised her for “still winning without trying.”

Some joked that the achievement is proof she “owes us an album.” Whether or not R9 drops soon, Rihanna’s legacy in music and culture is already set.
