Television legend Marla Gibbs is ready to share her powerful story with the world. At 94 years old, the Emmy-nominated actress has announced her memoir, It’s Never Too Late, set for release on February 24, 2026.

Known for her roles as Florence Johnston on The Jeffersons and Mary Jenkins on 227, Gibbs has touched generations of viewers. Her upcoming book will offer an inside look into her life and her long career in the spotlight.

Celebrating a Career Spanning Over 50 Years

Gibbs has spent more than five decades in the entertainment industry. From sitcoms to film, she has consistently brought Black stories to the screen with grace and humor. Her work has paved the way for many Black women in Hollywood.

She also starred in Martin as Miss Minnie, showing new generations her timeless charm. Gibbs has been a beloved figure in Black pop culture and continues to inspire fans with her resilience and wit.

A Message of Hope and Resilience

Gibbs says her story is about more than fame. It’s about pushing through life’s hardest moments. “I believe no matter the challenges one faces, it is never too late to turn your life around or make a difference,” she said.

She also added, “My hope is that my memoir will serve as an inspiration to those that continue to show me love and support.” Her words remind readers that age is no limit when it comes to growth and purpose.

Honored for Her Legacy and Impact

This year has already been full of honors for Gibbs. In February 2025, she received the ESSENCE Black Women in Hollywood Award. The award celebrates Black women who have changed the world of TV and film.

Gibbs called it a full-circle moment. Her voice and presence on-screen have helped shape how Black women are seen and celebrated in media. The upcoming memoir is a natural next step in cementing that legacy.
