Actress and Philanthropist Releases Limited-Edition Line

Actress and philanthropist Taraji P. Henson has collaborated with Kate Spade New York on a capsule collection aimed at destigmatizing conversations surrounding mental health, specifically among women and girls.

The limited-edition line features a t-shirt reading “Joy Is” and a green agate heart necklace. The uplifting pieces highlight the importance of joy and well-being.

“Our teams connected on a fundamental, human level,” Henson said in a statement. “As isolation and loneliness continue climbing, the collection serves as a reminder you are not alone.”

One hundred percent of profits will go towards the Boris Lawrence Henson Foundation, the non-profit Henson co-founded in 2018 to provide accessible mental healthcare for Black communities.

Campus Wellness Pods Expand Mental Health Outreach

After joining forces last year, Henson and Kate Spade expanded their collaboration in 2023 by creating campus wellness pods. The pods have offered free therapy, yoga, meditation and other mental health resources to female students at Historically Black Colleges and Universities.

Pods have been set up so far at Alabama State University and Hampton University.

“Whether we connect with our sister circles or ourselves, joy is our north star,” Henson said of the ongoing Kate Spade partnership.

The new Boris Lawrence Henson x Kate Spade capsule collection is now available on the Kate Spade website, with profits furthering vital mental health initiatives.
