R. Kelly has been sentenced to 30 years in prison for sex trafficking and racketeering. His sentencing on Wednesday came after decades of accusations of sexual and physical abuse.
“These victims were disposable to you,” Judge Anna Donnelly told R. Kelly before imposing the sentence. “You left in your wake a trail of broken lives … you taught them that love is enslavement and violence and humiliation.”
Kelly’s lawyers argued he should get no more than 10 years because he had a traumatic childhood “involving severe, prolonged childhood sexual abuse, poverty and violence.”
He is scheduled to stand trial again in Chicago on Aug. 15, where he faces federal charges for producing child pornography and luring minors into sex acts. #BWLM💕
