Listen, we know this headline is long, but there’s so much to celebrate about Howard University’s graduation ceremony this past weekend!

Actor Anthony Anderson graduated from Howard University, a goal he says was 30 years in the making!

“To quote Biggie, ‘IT WAS ALL A DREAM!’ Words can’t begin to describe the emotional roller coaster I’m on right now,” Anderson wrote on an Instagram post. “It’s literally been 30 years in the making.”

Anderson went on to write that he earned a BFA degree from the Chadwick A. Boseman College of Fine Arts! If you recall, the university named its fine arts college after Boseman, who was an alumnus of the school, after his death in 2020.

The “Black-ish” actor thanked his son and several others, including actress Phylicia Rashad, who was recently appointed as the dean of Howard’s college of fine arts, as well as Taraji P. Henson, who graduated from the college of fine arts in 1995 and was this year’s commencement speaker.

Before delivering her highly anticipated speech, Henson received an honorary doctorate of Humane Letters from the university. “I would like to take this moment to reintroduce myself: My name is Dr. Taraji Penda Henson, Howard class of 1995,” she said as she addressed the graduates. #IKDR, Taraji!

She went on to encourage the students to bet on themselves and become who they’re destined to be PERIOD!

“Find your bigger picture, bet on yourself, and let your peers’ success be your fuel, not your distraction,” she said. “Howard, I challenge you to take care of yourself mentally and emotionally, as well as physically, because you look too good on the outside to not be doing the work on the inside.”

“The doors of the world are open to you,” Henson continued. “I want you to walk on up, step on through, and — with grace and strength — go become who you are destined to be.”

We really cannot take all of this Black Excellence! It’s never too late to achieve a goal and this is inspiring so many people to go after their dreams at any age! Congratulations, y’all! #BWLM💕
