#MiracleIzuchukwu ( @Pilot.Mira ) a 24-year old from New York City, will soon make history by becoming apart of the 1% of Black female pilots for major Commercial Airlines worldwide.

Her journey in the aviation industry began when she became a flight attendant with American Airlines. While working as a customer service representative, a chance encounter with a pilot sparked an interest in Izuchukwu becoming a pilot herself!

Izuchukwu has experienced many hardships to arrive at this milestone in her career including expectations attached to her Nigerian heritage and gender inequality. Once she realized her dreams of becoming a pilot, Izuchukwu shared her plans with her father. Unfortunately, he told her that “if he gets on a plane and sees a woman as the pilot, he would get off the plane.”

Still, those biting and misogynistic words did not stop Izuchukwu from dreaming big. Through the many doubts that people around her may have had in her journey, she believed that she would make it no matter what and used that discouragement as fuel to keep her going. Izuchukwu finally earned her Private Pilots License in 2021 and the rest is quite literally history!

“Whoever it is praying for me, don’t stop; it’s working. I joined the elite group of 7% of females and 1% of black female pilots in the world. It’s an exhilarating yet surreal feeling to introduce myself to the world as a Pilot,” Miracle wrote online an Instagram post.

As her journey continues to break barriers and make way for others, she is training to become a Commercial Airline pilot and shares tips about pilot training and encouraging stories on her social media pages. She’s working hard and doing her thing! We love that for her and look forward to where she goes from here. #BWLM💕
