Jasmine McCall’s qualification for her new job is the part of her life most money experts leave out.
McCall is the founder and chief executive of Paybump, and she has taken a second title: Chief of Financial Freedom at Split Pay, where she will run a campaign the company is calling Financial Freedom. Split Pay launched in 2022 and lets a subscriber pay part of a large bill on the day it is due and the rest two weeks later. The company says it has helped more than 150,000 people.
She did not open with her resume. She opened with a bill. “As a young adult working at Pizza Hut, I remember the challenge of paying bills while living paycheck to paycheck,” she said. “That’s why I’m excited about spearheading a campaign that equips people with a tool to get ahead of their finances.”
The resume is there too, and she listed it herself. “I’ve climbed the corporate ladder, built and scaled a seven-figure business, and worked with the likes of BMW and SoFi,” she said.
McCall left a six-figure corporate position in 2022 to start Paybump, which she says has helped more than 20,000 workers land high-paying corporate jobs. She has more than 656,000 subscribers on YouTube and close to 150,000 followers on TikTok, and she started a media company, MacMedia Partners, this year.
Andrew Borovsky, Split Pay’s co-founder and chief executive, said the audience is what the company came for. “Jasmine has built a strong and loyal audience by making complex financial conversations feel practical and accessible,” he said.
The campaign is aimed at millennials and Gen Z. What it puts in front of them is a product that moves part of a bill two weeks down the road, and the woman explaining it says she used to be the person deciding which bill could wait.
Paybump remains hers, and the Split Pay title is a second one she holds alongside it.
