The beauty supply store is where Black women buy hair, and it is not where a celebrity brand goes to prove it has arrived. Cardi B put Grow-Good Beauty there anyway.
Her line opened in two independently owned beauty supply stores in New York on Tuesday, October 20, 2026, and went into four more independently owned stores in Atlanta, Chicago, Houston and Los Angeles starting Friday, October 23. She passed on Sephora and Ulta Beauty, the two retailers that usually certify a beauty brand, because she believes the people buying her products shop somewhere else.
She has said where that conviction comes from. “I used to go to the beauty supply store and only had $40,” she said, explaining how she set the price. “I put myself in my old shoes.”
Nothing in the line costs more than $19.99. The repair shampoo and the repair conditioner are $14.99 each, the multi-function serum is $17.99, and the hydrating mask is $19.99. Grow-Good launched alongside Revolve, has sold out several times, and its return customer rate has been reported at 40 percent. Its Fiberlace technology is built to seal and smooth the hair cuticle so hair breaks less.
She has also named what the small store gives her that a department counter cannot. “This is where I used to be and I still am,” she said. “And the owners keep it real here,” describing shopkeepers who will tell a customer straight when a product is not good.
Raissa Gerona, chief brand officer at Revolve, said the beauty supply rollout will test whether the brand holds up in retail, with the bet resting on Cardi B’s own credibility and a hair story customers recognize.
A bigger retailer could still come. She has said she wants Grow-Good available everywhere. But the order she chose is the argument: the independent store first and the prestige shelf second, which is the opposite of the path celebrity beauty usually takes.
For a woman who has stood in that aisle doing the arithmetic, a brand priced for her and stocked where she already shops is a different proposition from one she has to drive to a mall to find.
