The Atlanta Dream beat the New York Liberty 92 to 82 on Sunday, October 4, 2026, and lead the WNBA semifinal series 1-0.

Jordin Canada scored 25 points, 20 of them in the second half, and added five steals. She did it with the Dream’s leading scorer on the bench. Allisha Gray, who averaged a career best 19 points a game this season, hurt her left hand and did not return. No severity, diagnosis or timeline has been confirmed by the team or the league as of this morning.

That is the whole weight of the result. Atlanta went into the building of the best team in the league, lost the player its season is built around, and still won by ten. The second half was Canada’s: a guard who is not the name on the marquee carried a playoff road win in New York while everyone was waiting to hear about somebody else’s hand.

Game 2 is Wednesday, October 7, at State Farm Arena in Atlanta, 7:30 p.m. ET on ESPN. The series is a best of five.

This is the first semifinal result either side has on the board, and it belongs to the fourth seed.
