Dina D. Strachan Launches New Hair Loss Center for Black Women

Board certified dermatologist Dina D. Strachan is taking another major step in healthcare by expanding services at Aglow Dermatology. Her latest move is the launch of a new Hair Loss Center of Excellence, a specialized program created to diagnose and treat hair and scalp conditions across all hair types and textures.

The new center is designed to bring expert medical care to patients who often struggle to find answers, especially Black women with textured hair. As awareness around hair restoration continues to grow, Dr. Strachan says the need for medically sound guidance has become more urgent than ever.

Aglow Dermatology Focuses on Hair and Scalp Health Equity

For years, Aglow Dermatology has built a strong reputation for treating skin and hair concerns in people of color. With this latest expansion, the practice is deepening its commitment to closing long standing gaps in dermatologic care.

Moreover, the new Hair Loss Center of Excellence was created to bring clarity to patients who may have received cosmetic advice without proper diagnosis. The center offers evidence based treatment plans built around each person’s unique hair texture, medical history, and lifestyle.

Dr. Dina Strachan Brings Medical Expertise to Hair Loss Treatment

Dr. Strachan is not only the founder and CEO of Aglow Dermatology, but she is also a faculty member at New York University and a nationally recognized expert in complex hair and scalp conditions. Her work has made her a respected voice in dermatology.

In addition, she reached wider audiences through the The Black Beauty Effect, where she shared expert insight on beauty, skin, hair, and representation. Her growing influence continues to help more women understand that hair loss deserves real medical attention.

“Hair loss is a medical condition that deserves careful evaluation and thoughtful treatment,” Dr. Strachan said. “Too often, patients are given generalized advice or cosmetic solutions without a proper diagnosis.”

Specialized Care for Hair Loss Conditions in Black Women

One of Dr. Strachan’s strongest areas of expertise is diagnosing hair loss conditions that disproportionately affect African Americans. This includes conditions like Central Centrifugal Cicatricial Alopecia, also known as CCCA, which can lead to permanent hair loss if not treated early.

Because of this, the new center places a strong focus on early diagnosis and prevention. Patients will receive in depth scalp evaluations, personalized treatment options, and education on safe styling practices that support long term hair health.

New Hair Loss Center Offers Year Round Support

The Hair Loss Center of Excellence will offer structured monthly sessions for patients dealing with complex or treatment resistant hair loss. These sessions are designed to allow deeper evaluations and more personalized care plans.

At the same time, standard hair loss consultations will remain available throughout the year. This flexible model ensures that patients can access expert support when they need it, whether they are facing early signs of thinning or more advanced scalp conditions.

A Mission to Improve Dermatology Access for Everyone

Beyond treatment, this expansion reflects a bigger mission. Dr. Strachan wants to make sure advances in dermatology reach all communities, not just a select few. Her work continues to challenge the gaps that many Black patients have faced in healthcare.

As a result, the new center stands as more than a medical service. It is a statement about representation, education, and equitable care. Through science, expertise, and cultural understanding, Dr. Strachan is helping more women protect their hair, their confidence, and their health.
