Angel Reese Makes the Move to Atlanta Dream

Angel Reese has officially joined the Atlanta Dream after a major trade, leaving the Chicago Sky behind. Fans know her as the “Bayou Barbie,” and she is excited to return to the South where she began her rise as a basketball star.

The trade, confirmed by ESPN, sends two first-round picks to the Sky in exchange for Reese. The 6-foot-3 forward shared the news herself, proudly displaying her No. 5 on the Dream’s red jersey. She called joining the Atlanta franchise an “Angel’s dream” and expressed gratitude for the city honoring one of its new star players.

A Rising Star on the Court

Reese has already made a name for herself in the WNBA. In her second season, she averaged 14.7 points, 12.6 rebounds, 3.7 assists, and 1.5 steals per game. She has led the league in rebounds for two consecutive seasons and aims to help the Dream win its first championship.

Her impact goes beyond statistics. Reese, a Vogue cover star, has become an advocate for women athletes. With a Reebok sneaker collaboration and media projects under her belt, she brings a cultural presence along with her basketball skills to Atlanta.

Atlanta Fans Excited for Reese

The Dream have been preparing fans for the new season, and Reese’s jersey is already on sale. Part-owner and former player Renee Montgomery congratulated the 23-year-old forward. Fans have also expressed excitement online, praising the trade as perfect for Atlanta’s majority-Black city and its vibrant sports community.

One social media user noted that the move connects Reese to local colleges including HBCUs and LSU supporters, envisioning her jersey becoming a staple like Michael Vick’s in Atlanta.

Upcoming Games and Debut

Reese will face her former team, the Chicago Sky, in a pre-season game on April 29. Her first home game with the Dream is scheduled for May 17 against the Las Vegas Aces. Tickets are available for fans eager to see the WNBA All-Star showcase her skills in her new city.
