A mother’s concern has grown into a purpose-driven skincare brand. Patrice Chappelle and her 14-year-old son, Bron Echols, launched MelanBrand Skin in 2023 after struggling to find effective products for melanated children. What began as a personal need now speaks to families who felt overlooked by the children’s skincare market.

MelanBrand Skin was created to support Black and Brown children with products designed for their specific skin needs. Instead of quick fixes, the brand focuses on long-term skin health, confidence, and self-care from childhood onward.

MelanBrand Skin Addresses a Gap in Children’s Skincare

Chappelle’s journey started while caring for her son’s dry skin. She searched for solutions and found very few options made with melanated skin in mind. Many children’s products stopped at basic soap and lotion or caused irritation.

Rather than accept limited choices, Chappelle chose to build something better. She partnered with her son to create MelanBrand Skin, a line developed to meet real concerns faced by children of color.

The brand now serves families seeking gentle, effective skincare that reflects their lived experiences.

Clean and Thoughtful Skincare for Melanated Skin

MelanBrand Skin is rooted in simplicity and care. The mother-son duo believes healthy skin habits should begin early and be supported by safe formulas.

All products are vegan, gluten-free, and cruelty-free. They are made without parabens, phthalates, or unnecessary toxins.

As a result, the products are gentle enough for young and sensitive skin. At the same time, they nourish and protect melanated skin without stripping it.

Product Lines Designed for Growing Skin and Special Needs

The brand offers collections tailored for ages seven to twenty-one. There is also a dedicated line for eczema, psoriasis, and dermatitis.

Popular products include the Turmeric Glow Bar priced at $16 and the MelanKids Fresh Face Cleanser at $20. Families also turn to the MelanGrow Scalp and Hair Oil and the MelanMoisture Extreme Cream.

Each product is designed to support different stages of skin care. Together, they encourage consistency and confidence in daily routines.

Building Confidence Through Skincare Routines

MelanBrand Skin is about more than appearance. Chappelle and Echols want children of color to feel confident in their skin.

Skincare is often missing from conversations about childhood hygiene. When included, it rarely reflects diverse needs.

The brand reframes skincare as wellness and self-expression. By starting early, children learn pride and care that lasts into adulthood.

Turning Career Change Into Family Entrepreneurship

MelanBrand Skin was also shaped by a major life shift. Chappelle entered entrepreneurship after navigating a career layoff.

Instead of seeing the moment as a setback, she turned it into opportunity. Building the brand alongside her son brought personal fulfillment and purpose.

Bron Echols now serves as co-founder and co-CEO. His role represents early leadership and a growing family legacy.

MelanBrand Skin Looks Beyond Beauty to Lasting Impact

The founders hope the brand creates change beyond skincare. They want to reshape how children care for themselves with intention.

MelanBrand Skin stands as a celebration of identity and thoughtful self-care. It also shows what is possible when family and purpose align.

Available at WeLoveUs.Shop, the brand continues to grow while centering children who were long ignored.
