Hollywood’s brightest names came together for the 8th annual Critics’ Choice Celebration of Black Cinema & Television. The ceremony recognized outstanding Black talent in film and television. Teyana Taylor, Regina Hall, Jurnee Smollett, Wunmi Mosaku, and other actors received coveted awards for their contributions.

The event highlighted Black excellence on screen while celebrating the artistry and influence of women in the industry. Samuel L. Jackson presented Jurnee Smollett with the “Best Actress in a Horror Series” award for her role as Detective Michelle Calderone in the Apple+ series Smoke. The actress glowed on the red carpet in a strapless rose gold sequin gown, sharing a memorable moment with Jackson.

Coveted Recognition for Black Talent

Teyana Taylor, a rising star, received a Golden Globe nomination and recognition during the ceremony. She, Regina Hall, and Chase Infiniti jointly received the Ensemble Award for their work on One Battle After Another.

“This night celebrates not just individual achievements but the power of collaboration in Black Hollywood,” the Critics Choice Association said in a statement. The awards reflected both acting excellence and the impact these projects have on audiences worldwide.

Michael B. Jordan, who recently earned a Best Actor Golden Globe nomination for Sinners, embraced his former Creed co-star Tessa Thompson on the red carpet, highlighting camaraderie among Black talent.

Red Carpet Fashion and Iconic Looks

The event was also a showcase of style. Teyana Taylor opted for a Nicholas Oakwell Couture gown with a corset bodice and embroidery detail, perfectly suited for the occasion.

Jurnee Smollett impressed in a strapless Alex Perry gown that sparkled under the lights. Her cascading waves and soft glam enhanced her elegant appearance.

Wunmi Mosaku brought royal vibes in a vibrant purple gown with glowing makeup that highlighted her rich brown skin. Ryan Destiny also turned heads in a burgundy leather ensemble, proving the evening was as much about fashion as it was about recognition.

Celebrating Women in Black Hollywood

This ceremony reinforced the contributions of Black women in film and television. By highlighting talent like Teyana Taylor, Regina Hall, Jurnee Smollett, and Wunmi Mosaku, the awards recognized both excellence and representation.

Events like these continue to create opportunities for Black women to be celebrated for their artistry, influence, and impact on culture. The Critics’ Choice Black Cinema & Television Celebration remains a central platform for acknowledging achievements that shape the industry.
