Quinta Brunson is giving thousands of Philadelphia students a chance to dream bigger. The Abbott Elementary star launched a new fund to support free school trips for children across the city, especially those in underserved communities. The project aims to remove financial barriers and help students explore new places that can inspire their futures.
Quinta Brunson Launches New Field Trip Fund for Philly Students
Quinta Brunson announced The Quinta Brunson Field Trip Fund on Dec. 2, which also marked Giving Tuesday. She launched the project in partnership with the School District of Philadelphia. The goal is simple: help every student enjoy meaningful school trips at no cost.
The fund will support more than 117,000 students in public schools. It ensures that children from low-income families do not miss out on museums, landmarks, and other learning experiences. Brunson said these trips were a big part of her childhood, opening her mind to new ideas.
“These trips opened my world and sparked my creativity,” Brunson said. “They showed me the world is bigger and more exciting than what I saw every day.”
Educational Access and Philly Community Support
The fund continues Brunson’s strong support for her hometown. Earlier, she donated $25,000 to the district’s Groceries for Good program, which supports students facing food insecurity. Her work has earned her major recognition, including a key to the city and a mural at her former school, Andrew Hamilton School in West Philadelphia.
Brunson credits the same school and a retired teacher for inspiring her Emmy-winning hit series. The new fund serves as another step in giving back to the community that shaped her. She said she wants students to feel seen and know their dreams matter.
“I’m proud to support students with experiences that remind them their dreams are valid and their futures are bright,” she said.
School Trips Boost Learning and Long-Term Success
The impact of school trips goes far beyond a fun day out. Studies show strong long-term benefits for students who take part in them. Research links school trips to better grades, higher graduation rates, and even increased earnings in adulthood.
One study found that students who join such trips had a 95% high school graduation rate and a 63% college graduation rate. They also earned about 12% more as adults. These results reflect the power of curiosity, real-world learning, and exposure to new environments.
Brunson’s fund aligns with this research. It gives students the chance to explore museums, cultural sites, and historical spaces that can inspire confidence and learning.
A Gift of Possibility for Philadelphia’s Children
As the fund grows, more students across Philadelphia will gain access to enriching experiences beyond the classroom walls. Teachers will also be supported, as many have struggled to plan trips due to rising costs.
Brunson’s effort sends a clear message: every child deserves a chance to learn, explore, and dream without limits. Her initiative stands as a powerful example of how community support can change lives.
