Community Heartbroken After Rising TikTok Star Is Found Shot

Shock and sadness continue to spread as fans mourn the death of Girlalala, a 21-year-old TikTok and Instagram star who touched thousands with her humor and bold spirit. Authorities say she was found unresponsive on Nov. 14 in the front passenger seat of a car in Lauderdale Lakes, Florida. She was “suffering from gunshot wounds,” according to the Broward Sheriff’s Office.

Paramedics rushed her to Broward Health Medical Center, where she was later pronounced dead. The case is being investigated by the Broward Sheriff’s Homicide and Crime Scene units. The news quickly moved across social media, leaving many devastated and searching for answers.

Her real name was Maurice Harrison. She identified as a Black transgender woman and worked as a hairstylist in Pompano Beach. She gained more than 235,000 followers on TikTok before the page was deactivated. Her Instagram account, which remains active, has over 41,000 followers.

Suspect Arrested as Loved Ones Call for Justice and Safety

Authorities say a suspect, Shanoyd Whyte Jr., was taken into custody at the scene on the night of the shooting. Investigators recovered a firearm. They also stated that the incident followed a verbal argument that turned physical inside Whyte Jr.’s vehicle.

During the confrontation, Harrison was shot while seated in the car. Whyte Jr. told detectives the two had been in a relationship for several years. He now faces a charge of first-degree murder with a firearm and is being held at the Broward Sheriff’s Office Main Jail.

The news has fueled calls for the protection of Black trans women, who remain at high risk of violence. Many fans say Harrison’s death highlights the need for stronger support systems, better understanding of domestic violence, and more attention to the unique danger transgender women often face.

Fans Flood Social Media With Tributes and Love

Shortly after the news broke, fans packed the comments under Harrison’s Instagram posts with heartbreak and affection. Many shared memories, kind words, and anger over the violence that ended her life.

“I will forever miss you. I wish I could have done more,” one close friend wrote. “We were laughing on FaceTime just a few days ago. You didn’t deserve that. IT WASN’T SELF DEFENSE!!!”

Others kept their messages simple but powerful.
“Rest in beauty, sista,” one user shared.
“You will be missed,” wrote another.

The outpouring showed how deeply she touched people, even those who never met her in person. Her bold personality and warm energy made her a rising favorite in online beauty and entertainment spaces.

Stars Join Fans in Honoring Girlalala’s Impact and Spirit

City Girls rapper JT was among the major stars who shared public tributes. She posted a now-deleted video of Girlalala joining her on stage to perform. Her message carried both love and frustration over the violence Black trans women face.

“Rest, beautiful girlala!” JT wrote. “Heaven will never be boring now that you are there. Your boldness, energy, humor, and beauty will be missed! You never missed a chance to show me love. I’m sorry this happened to you.”

JT also urged people to take domestic violence involving Black and trans women seriously.
“If you see content about DV, don’t laugh because it’s a trans or Black woman,” she wrote. “We have a way of laughing through our pain because we have been shaped to be taken as jokes.”

Her message encouraged fans to break harmful cycles, listen to survivors, and protect vulnerable women in every community.

Family Shares Gratitude as GoFundMe Surpasses $28,000

To support funeral arrangements, Harrison’s family created a GoFundMe campaign. As of Nov. 19, it had raised $28,737. JT alone donated $13,500, showing her loyalty and respect for the young influencer.

The family expressed deep gratitude for the overwhelming support.
“As a family, we appreciate every prayer, kind thought, and gesture during our time of bereavement,” they wrote. “Once we finalize arrangements, we will also share how you can contribute to the funeral home directly also. Thank you.”

Their message reminded supporters that while the online world is mourning a beloved creator, a family is grieving a daughter, niece, sister, and friend who was taken too soon.

A Call to Protect Black Trans Women Everywhere

As tributes continue to rise, many activists and followers say Harrison’s death must lead to real change. Black trans women face high rates of violence, often without the protection and justice they deserve. Supporters hope her story pushes communities to pay closer attention, step in sooner, and stand up for those at risk.

Girlalala’s supporters say her legacy should be more than mourning. They want it to inspire action, compassion, and protection for Black trans sisters everywhere. Her joy, her humor, her style, and her courage will continue to inspire people who saw themselves in her light.

Her fans say they will keep her memory alive by demanding a world that sees, values, and protects women like her.
