A New Collaboration Blending Sport, Style, and Creative Identity

Marsai Martin has teamed up with Round21 founder Jasmine Maietta and the WNBA for a new capsule collection that celebrates movement, culture, and identity. The partnership brings together fashion, sports, and Black creative leadership in one bold project.

The collection is the biggest collaboration Round21 has taken on so far. It is powered by Shopify and shaped by the shared vision of two powerful Black women who believe style should tell a story. Together, they created a drop that feels modern, emotional, and deeply connected to community.

Jasmine sees Round21 as more than a sportswear brand. She built it to honor identity and art. For her, the pieces people wear should represent their stories. This collection continues that mission with intention and heart.

How Marsai Martin Helped Shape a Purpose-Driven Capsule

Marsai did not approach the collaboration with numbers or business language. Instead, she spoke about feeling. According to Jasmine, Marsai’s first words set the tone: “I just want people to feel fly without forcing it.”

That simple line guided the entire project. The designs were built around clean shapes, soft movement, and a warm cream palette. Each piece feels easy and intentional. It is clothing that works for everyday life.

The logo, “MM r21,” carries layered meaning. “MM” stands for Marsai Martin, but also “Modern Momentum.” It honors the WNBA’s past while looking toward its next chapter. Jasmine wanted a collection that speaks to purpose, not trends.

Marsai echoed this same message when she announced the drop on Instagram. She wrote, “Built for versatility, it reflects my lifestyle—off the plane, at the game, on the move. Nothing extra. Just essentials.”

Round21’s Mission: Style, Art, and Black Community

Round21 was born from Jasmine Maietta’s vision to combine sport and creativity. She played sports professionally overseas, then built brands in the corporate world. Yet she felt something major was missing—speed, community, and cultural meaning.

That gap led her to create Round21 five years ago. The company collaborates with independent artists to turn sports into storytelling. Every product carries emotion, craft, and the voice of the artist who made it.

Round21 still operates like a small team with big dreams. Jasmine admits the journey has had pressure and challenges. But seeing Marsai pour into the project made the hard work worth it. It was not a surface-level partnership. It was a shared mission.

Jasmine says the artists keep her grounded. They remind her why she started—because there is real beauty and love in creating something that means something.

The WNBA’s New Era of Visibility and Power

This collaboration arrives during a turning point for the WNBA. The league is renegotiating its collective bargaining agreement and pushing hard for greater visibility and equity. Black women athletes are leading many of these conversations.

Jasmine believes this capsule is part of that movement. She calls it “a physical statement of that power.” The collection shows how culture, fashion, and sports can move together as one.

The WNBA’s role in this project highlights the growing influence of women in sports. It also honors the league’s push for fairness, representation, and new opportunities.

A Collection Built on Partnership and Shared Vision

Jasmine often says that powerful ideas start with simple conversations. She believes your next collaborator could be sitting beside you. Marsai proved that when she reached out with curiosity and belief.

The final collection is the result of many small steps, late nights, and moments of trust. For Jasmine, the reward came when she saw the community show up and feel represented.

Round21 is not trying to reinvent streetwear. It is showing that there is space for everyone. Style can carry a story, and this collection does exactly that.
