Taraji P. Henson takes charge in new Peacock series

Taraji P. Henson is set to lead and executive produce The Accomplice, an upcoming Peacock crime thriller adapted from the 2024 novel by Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson and Aaron Phillip Clark. The series, officially greenlit by Peacock, marks a new partnership between Henson’s TPH Entertainment and 50 Cent’s G-Unit Films and Television.

Henson will portray Nia Adams, a fearless Texas Ranger on the hunt for a master thief, Desmond Bell, whose latest crime targets one of America’s wealthiest families. As Nia follows the case, she uncovers deep corruption that challenges everything she believes about justice. The show promises to deliver intense storytelling centered on morality, loyalty, and truth in a broken system.

A powerful reunion of two Black entertainment trailblazers

This project brings together two of Hollywood’s most influential figures. Henson, known for her standout roles in Empire and Hidden Figures, joins forces with 50 Cent, the creative mind behind Power and BMF. Together, they bring experience and authenticity to The Accomplice, blending character-driven storytelling with social depth.

Their reunion represents more than a creative collaboration — it’s a continuation of both artists’ shared commitment to elevating complex Black narratives in mainstream media. The series is being developed by Universal Content Productions (UCP), a division of Universal Studio Group, known for producing high-caliber dramas.

A story of justice, corruption, and moral conflict

The Accomplice follows Henson’s character, Nia Adams, as she uncovers a network of deceit that blurs the line between right and wrong. Her investigation into Desmond Bell’s crimes quickly exposes systemic corruption that shakes her trust in the law she upholds.

As she faces mounting pressure, Nia must decide between protecting a fragile order or risking everything to expose the truth. The series promises suspense, emotional depth, and moral complexity — a combination that positions it to stand out among Peacock’s growing catalog of premium dramas.

Peacock continues building a bold, diverse lineup

Peacock’s decision to greenlight The Accomplice aligns with the platform’s push for dynamic, inclusive storytelling led by top Black talent. Henson’s role as both star and executive producer under her TPH Entertainment banner further emphasizes her influence as a creator shaping meaningful narratives.

With no writer yet attached, anticipation is high for who will bring this story to life. Still, with the combined creative forces of Henson and 50 Cent, the series already promises to deliver a gripping exploration of justice, power, and redemption through the lens of a strong, fearless Black woman.
