Raychel Proudie Announces Senate Run
Missouri State Rep. Raychel Proudie has officially launched her campaign for the State Senate. The four-term lawmaker, who represents Ferguson, announced her bid for the District 14 seat after reaching her House term limit.
Proudie is widely recognized for her candid and direct style. She says her campaign will focus on achieving “real results” for St. Louis County rather than empty political battles. The election for the seat will take place in August and November 2026.
A Record of Results in the Missouri House
During her four terms, Proudie built a track record centered on advocacy and funding. She pushed for victims of domestic violence, children and families, workers’ rights, and stronger public safety measures.
She also secured millions of dollars for St. Louis County, while taking on major issues like nuclear and toxic waste cleanup. Proudie emphasized this record in her announcement, writing:
“Real EXPERIENCE and real, tangible RESULTS is what is needed during these times of political instability.”
Focus on St. Louis County Communities
Proudie has made clear that her next step is about serving a larger population. District 14 includes Ferguson, Hazelwood, Overland, University City, Kinloch, and Berkeley, as well as major institutions like St. Louis Lambert International Airport and the University of Missouri–St. Louis.
“For my district, I want to bring home the bacon,” she said, highlighting her goal to continue securing resources for residents. Her campaign message stresses community development, economic stability, and quality of life improvements.
Campaign Strategy and Democratic Primary Challenge
The district leans solidly Democratic, making the winner of the primary almost guaranteed to win in November. Proudie may face a primary challenge from fellow Democrat Rep. Doug Clemens of St. Ann, though he has not officially declared. Two other candidates, Shante Duncan and Joseph Palm, have already entered the race.
The current seat is held by State Sen. Brian Williams, who is leaving after serving his maximum eight years. Proudie is positioning herself as the candidate with the strongest record of proven leadership.
A Direct Approach to Politics
Proudie has never shied away from being blunt about political realities. She has often criticized the idea of celebrating “fighting” without producing wins.
“What good does it do to say ‘we fought,’ if you lose?” she asked.
Her message is clear: she wants results, not symbolic gestures. With her history of bringing funding and advocacy to St. Louis County, her Senate campaign aims to expand that impact to even more communities.
