Historic Victory for Willow Newell

Willow Newell has made history as the first Black woman crowned Miss Wisconsin. The 22-year-old from Racine won the title on June 21, 2025, after an unforgettable performance.

Newell impressed judges with her rendition of “And I’m Telling You” from Dreamgirls. Her powerful vocals earned her the top vocalist award and a music scholarship. She competed against 29 other women for the prestigious title.

A Star-Making Talent Performance

Newell’s show-stopping performance sealed her victory. Singing the iconic Dreamgirls ballad, she left the audience and judges in awe. The moment was both emotional and triumphant.

Her talent earned her the Ryan Guy Memorial Music Scholarship. This recognition highlights her exceptional vocal ability and stage presence. Judges praised her passion and technical skill.

Championing Inclusion Through Art

Beyond the crown, Newell is dedicated to her community initiative, “Expression Without Inclusion.” The program promotes accessible arts education for all. She believes storytelling and creativity should be available to everyone.

Her work focuses on connecting communities through resources and artistic opportunities. This mission aligns with her own journey as a performer breaking barriers.

From Teen Competitor to State Winner

Newell’s pageant journey began in 2017 when she first competed as a teen. Years of hard work led her to this historic win. Her perseverance has paid off in a major way.

Now, she prepares for the next big stage—Miss America 2026. The national competition takes place in Orlando this September. Wisconsin will be cheering her on.

What’s Next for Miss Wisconsin?

Newell will spend her reign advocating for arts accessibility. She also plans to inspire young girls, especially those of color, to chase their dreams. Her win is a milestone for representation in pageantry.

As she heads to Miss America, supporters hope her momentum continues. One thing is certain—Willow Newell is a name to remember.
