Tabitha Brown Uses Her Voice to Support Black Creators and Authors

Emmy-winning actress and entrepreneur Tabitha Brown is standing strong for Black authors and Black-owned businesses. On May 20, she shared a heartfelt video on Instagram addressing critics who disagreed with her views on the Target boycott.

Brown spoke directly to those sending hate messages, saying, “This is my prayer for you. I pray that love finds you, true love.” She urged people to show kindness and compassion instead of negativity.

In the same video caption, she made it clear: “There is no amount of hate and ignorance that is going to stop me from using my platform and my voice to support and uplift small businesses, Black-owned businesses, Black content creators, and Black authors.”

The Target Boycott’s Hidden Impact on Black Authors

The boycott began earlier this year after Target reduced its diversity and inclusion efforts. While many focused on the protest, Brown highlighted how it hurt Black authors. Target is a major seller of their books, so fewer shoppers meant fewer sales for these writers.

“This affected their sales. It affected their ability to be on the New York Times bestseller list,” Brown explained. She stressed that lower sales numbers also impact future book deals.

Because of this, Brown urged those boycotting Target to be mindful of the consequences. She encouraged supporting Black authors by buying their books through other stores or online to help them “make their numbers.”

Brown Calls on Publishers to Recognize the Truth Behind Sales

Beyond the shoppers, Brown called on publishers to understand the boycott’s effect. She asked them not to treat recent low sales as a true reflection of Black authors’ popularity or talent.

“These numbers are not reflecting… their truth,” Brown said. “They’re talented writers with beautiful stories, and they’re being affected by something that they did not do.”

Her message is clear: Black authors deserve support and fairness, regardless of outside issues affecting sales figures.

Tabitha Brown’s Courage Inspires Black Creators Everywhere

Brown’s passion for uplifting Black creators has not been without challenges. She has faced pushback and hate for speaking out. Yet, her resolve remains unshaken.

“Take it up with God because he gave me my voice, he blessed me with a platform, and I’m going to use it,” Brown declared. Her courage and commitment inspire many to keep fighting for justice and support for Black-owned businesses.

As the boycott continues, Brown is a powerful reminder that standing up for your community matters. Her voice uplifts Black authors and entrepreneurs, encouraging everyone to look beyond headlines and see the real impact.
