Mastermind Behind Iconic Performances

Charm La’Donna has shaped unforgettable performances for music’s biggest stars. She has choreographed for Dua Lipa, Lil Baby, Kendrick Lamar, and The Weeknd, transforming their stage presence. From music videos to Super Bowl halftime shows, her creativity captivates millions.

Her vision is bold, and she stands firm in her artistic choices. When choreographing for Kendrick Lamar’s halftime show, she described the experience as thrilling. “I feel like the kid going to Disneyland for the first time,” she shared. Her work is more than movement—it’s storytelling in motion.

Transitioning From Choreography to Filmmaking

La’Donna is stepping into the world of filmmaking. She has signed with WME agency and is developing her first film. “Dance is a story, but it’s not the only story,” she explains. She is eager to explore new ways to tell stories beyond movement.

Her transition follows the path of legendary artists like Debbie Allen. With dance taking center stage in films and TV shows, La’Donna’s expertise is timely. She admires how dance scenes shape narratives in projects like Joker, Wednesday, and Severance. “I learned so much about his character just from watching him in that moment,” she said about Joker’s haunting dance scene.

Trust and Growth in a Competitive Industry

La’Donna credits her success to trust—trusting herself, her craft, and her team. “If I didn’t have trusted people around me, I wouldn’t be able to say, okay, I’m ready to direct,” she says.

She made space for filmmaking by carefully choosing projects. “I let some things go, and I trusted my team,” she explains. She also takes inspiration from books, often carrying novels in her travel bag, dreaming of adapting them into films.

Leading With Support and Spiritual Strength

Unlike the harsh stereotype of choreographers as demanding perfectionists, La’Donna believes in uplifting her team. “People make mistakes all the time, even in auditions,” she says. She values perseverance over perfection.

Handling criticism in the entertainment industry can be tough, but she remains grounded through her faith. “Keeping my closeness to God is very important for me,” she shares. Spirituality helps her stay focused and maintain balance in a fast-paced world.

Prioritizing Balance and Well-Being

After years of pushing herself relentlessly, La’Donna has learned to prioritize self-care. “Once I release the art, I let it go,” she says. She no longer tries to control everything, instead focusing on personal growth.

Massages, long phone calls with her mother, and naps keep her grounded. She is dedicated to excellence but refuses to sacrifice balance. “I pray before I walk in, pray after I leave, and just keep moving.”

With her passion for storytelling and strong artistic vision, La’Donna is set to leave an impact not just in dance but also in film.
