Angel Reese, the WNBA star, has made her mark in the fashion world, landing on the cover of Vogue for the Winter 2025 issue. Alongside Olympic gold sprinter Gabby Thomas, Reese shines as she shares her unique blend of passions—basketball and fashion. Her journey to this moment highlights both her athletic prowess and her love for serving bold, stylish looks.

A Lifelong Passion for Both Basketball and Fashion

Angel Reese’s love for basketball and fashion has always gone hand in hand. Growing up, she was surrounded by the sport through her mother and grandmother, both of whom played basketball. But Reese’s interests didn’t stop there. She developed a love for fashion early on, influenced by her mother’s closet. Reese recalled, “I was always in my mom’s closet, putting on her stuff. I liked to carry a purse. Hair done. I wanted to look put together. I still do.”

In an interview with Vogue, Reese shared a nostalgic moment, pulling out a childhood photo of herself in a pink dress and tiara, striking a pose. This playful image symbolizes her early passion for looking stylish while also embracing the competitive spirit of basketball. Both worlds have shaped who Reese is today—an athlete who dominates on the court while turning heads off it.

From the Court to the Catwalk: Reese’s Fashion Dreams

While basketball is her primary focus, Angel Reese also has big dreams in the fashion world. Growing up, she admired models like Tyra Banks and practiced runway walks in her living room. Reese explained, “I learned from watching America’s Next Top Model and would practice runway walks.” This connection to fashion has stayed with her, as she aims to make her mark in both worlds.

Though still early in her WNBA career with the Chicago Sky, Reese already has big plans for the future. She hopes to one day walk the runway as a model, adding another dimension to her already diverse career. Reese’s strong performance on the basketball court, including averaging 13.6 points, 13.1 rebounds, 1.9 assists, 1.3 steals, and 0.5 blocks in 2024, only strengthens her status as a powerhouse in both sports and style.

Gabby Thomas: A Fashion Evolution

Joining Reese on the Vogue cover is Olympic sprinter Gabby Thomas, who, like Reese, has begun exploring the world of fashion. After securing gold medals at the Paris Olympics, Thomas has grown in popularity and is now starting to experiment with different styles that make her feel confident.

She shared her experience of discovering her personal style, saying, “I’m just starting to get a sense of what I like.” Thomas’ growing interest in fashion is reflected in her choice of outfits, such as a stunning white Carolina Herrera dress she wore for the Vogue shoot. She added, “Since then, I’ve been doing more ‘pretty’ looks. And more polished. Same with the hair and makeup.”

The Future of Angel Reese’s Dual Legacy

Looking ahead, Reese is eager to continue her legacy as both a WNBA star and a fashion icon. As she prepares for her sophomore season in the WNBA, her commitment to both basketball and style is clear. She represents the modern athlete who is not only defined by her athletic achievements but also by her ability to embrace multiple passions and make a lasting impact in the world.

With her first Vogue cover, Reese has set a precedent for young women athletes to boldly pursue their dreams, no matter where those dreams may lead.
