As the year winds down, many Black women are opting for a fresh, exciting way to set their goals for 2025: bingo cards. This trend, fueled by TikTok’s viral videos, offers a fun and flexible alternative to the traditional vision board. Instead of feeling overwhelmed by unattainable dreams and unachieved goals, many are embracing the simplicity and structure that a bingo card provides.
The Pressure of Vision Boards
For years, vision boards have been a staple in goal-setting. They are meant to help individuals visualize their future and create a path toward achieving their dreams. However, for many Black women, these boards have often led to frustration rather than motivation. Vision boards can feel overwhelming, especially when the goals on them seem out of reach.
One Black woman, Marsha Badger, shared her experience of using vision boards in her annual goal-setting. While vision boards helped her visualize her future, she found that by the end of the year, many of her goals remained unchecked. This led to feelings of discouragement and the decision to try something different in 2024: a more focused approach. Instead of trying to accomplish everything, she set about 10 achievable milestones, and by the end of the year, she had reached nearly 95% of them.
Bingo Cards Are the New Goal-Setting Trend
Enter the 2025 bingo card. This new method of setting goals is taking over social media platforms, particularly TikTok. Instead of creating a vision board filled with lofty and often unrealistic aspirations, the bingo card method allows users to set 25 smaller, more attainable goals. The goal is simple: mark off five goals to get “bingo.” Once that happens, achieving even more goals becomes a source of motivation and celebration.
For Black women like Badger, this method is a game-changer. The bingo card provides a visual structure that makes goal-setting feel achievable without the overwhelming pressure. In a culture where many people, especially women, juggle multiple roles, the idea of setting smaller, more manageable goals is refreshing. The bingo card offers freedom from the constant pursuit of perfection that often comes with vision boards.
A Fun and Flexible Approach
One of the main advantages of the bingo card method is its flexibility. Unlike vision boards, which often require cutting out images and spending hours crafting a vision, bingo cards are easy to create and can be tailored to anyone’s needs. Whether someone wants to achieve fitness goals, career milestones, or personal aspirations, the bingo card can be customized to fit a variety of goals.
The bingo card also removes the pressure of having to do everything at once. It encourages a balance of being present in the moment and allowing some goals to unfold naturally. This approach not only helps reduce stress but also creates a sense of fun in the process of achieving goals.
Why More Black Women Are Adopting Bingo Cards
Bingo cards align with the growing trend of Black women embracing self-care and mental health in their goal-setting. Instead of focusing on the overwhelming weight of perfecting every part of their lives, Black women are leaning into the idea that progress is enough. Achieving five goals out of 25 is still a success, and the bingo card allows room for growth without the constant guilt that often accompanies unaccomplished tasks on a vision board.
By using bingo cards, Black women are creating a new way to celebrate small victories and build momentum towards larger achievements. It’s not about perfection but about taking control of their own journey with less stress and more flexibility.
Is the Bingo Card the Future of Goal-Setting?
With its emphasis on fun, flexibility, and achievable milestones, the bingo card method is quickly becoming a favorite among goal-setters. Black women, in particular, are embracing this new tool as a way to stay motivated while reducing the pressure that often accompanies the traditional vision board process.
