As the new year approaches, Aliya Faust, a seasoned marketing expert and author, encourages Black women to make mindset changes that will set them up for success in 2025. With a background in high-level marketing and content strategy, Faust uses her platform to inspire personal growth, and this year, she’s focused on three key areas: overcoming fear, battling negative thinking, and letting go of people-pleasing tendencies. These shifts will not only help women move forward in their personal and professional lives but also align them with their purpose.
1. Overcoming Fear and Embracing New Opportunities
As 2024 comes to a close, Faust emphasizes the importance of leaving fear behind. Fear can hold you back from reaching your full potential, but when faced head-on, it can be a source of growth and strength. Faust shares a powerful message rooted in the Bible, quoting Isaiah 41:10, which says, “Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God.” She encourages women to listen to their inner voice, even when it feels shaky, and trust in God’s support.
“Don’t let fear stop you from trying,” Faust writes. “If it frightens you, that might be a sign that it’s time to face it and move forward. God has your back—always.”
The new year offers a fresh start, and by embracing courage, Black women can make bold moves, both in their personal lives and careers, without fear dictating their actions.
2. Shifting Away from Negative Thinking
Another crucial mindset change Faust recommends is replacing negative thinking with a more positive and purposeful outlook. Negative thoughts can be incredibly damaging, often limiting one’s potential. Faust explains how our words can shape our beliefs, urging women to be mindful of what they say to themselves.
Drawing inspiration from the Bible, Faust references Philippians 2:1-8, encouraging Black women to practice humility, kindness, and empathy. Even in difficult times, when things don’t go as planned, she advises focusing on the bigger picture and remembering that each setback could be preparing you for something greater.
“Think about the lesson in every season, whether it’s challenging or not,” Faust advises. “Stay strong-minded and stick to your mission. Humility and persistence are key to turning challenges into triumphs.”
3. Letting Go of People-Pleasing Habits
Faust also highlights the importance of prioritizing yourself over others. While caring about others is important, constantly seeking validation through people-pleasing can drain your energy and derail your goals. Faust stresses that it’s okay to say no and put your happiness first.
“Your happiness starts with you,” Faust writes. “Stop letting other people’s business drain your energy. Focus on what you need to do to keep moving forward.”
In today’s digital world, it’s easy to get caught up in the pursuit of likes, shares, and external validation. Faust reminds women that God’s approval is far more important than the validation of others. Colossians 3:23 serves as a reminder to focus on actions that honor your values rather than chasing temporary praise.
Embracing 2025 with Purpose
With 2024 behind us, these mindset changes offer Black women a chance to embrace 2025 with confidence and purpose. By letting go of fear, negative thinking, and the need to please others, women can open themselves up to new possibilities. These shifts will not only create space for personal growth but also help them align with their faith and true purpose.
