Eden Bridgeman, CEO of EBONY & JET, has joined Big Brothers Big Sisters of America’s (BBBS) Game Changers initiative to uplift young girls through mentorship. The announcement comes as part of International Day of the Girl Child, celebrated on October 11, 2024. Alongside influential women like Gayle King, La La Anthony, and Gabrielle Union, Bridgeman is committed to inspiring the next generation.

Empowering Girls Through Mentorship

The Game Changers initiative by BBBS is designed to provide young girls with the mentorship they need to navigate challenges and unlock their potential. Women who have shattered boundaries in their fields will share their stories, offering valuable insights into how mentorship can drive success.

Bridgeman sees mentorship as a way to build confidence and provide the necessary support for young girls to dream big. “Mentorship is the bridge that connects experience to potential,” she says, highlighting how mentorship offers guidance and the belief that greatness is achievable.

The Power of Seeing Representation

Game Changers focuses on the mantra, “If you can see it, you can be it.” The initiative aims to show young girls what’s possible by connecting them with women who have made significant strides in their careers. Through events like “Big for a Day,” girls will have the opportunity to connect with these leaders and witness firsthand what success looks like.

Bridgeman, who leads two iconic media brands, emphasizes the importance of representation and helping others see their own strengths. She believes mentorship is not just about sharing knowledge, but also about empowering others to navigate their challenges with confidence and resilience.

A Broader Vision for the Future

BBBS’s vision of providing access to opportunities for young girls goes beyond one-on-one mentorship. With leaders like Bridgeman on board, the initiative aims to foster authentic connections and create mentorship experiences that resonate. Game Changers will cultivate environments where young girls feel empowered to pursue their dreams.

Bridgeman adds, “It’s a mutual journey of growth where both mentor and mentee inspire and uplift one another.” She believes mentorship offers a shared goal of continuous improvement, making it a powerful tool for shaping the future.

Mentorship from Trailblazers

Bridgeman is joined by a stellar group of women, each bringing a unique perspective on mentorship. Actress and singer Lexi Underwood shared her thoughts on the impact of mentorship, stating, “The balance of hard work, family support, and incredibly impactful mentoring relationships have helped me achieve success.”

Underwood, along with Bridgeman and others in the cohort, will contribute to the vision of guiding girls to become more resilient, confident, and emotionally mature. Their collective effort aims to create a lasting impact on the next generation.

A Legacy of Leadership

As the CEO of EBONY & JET, Bridgeman is no stranger to leading by example. Her dedication to building inclusive platforms for Black voices is mirrored in her commitment to mentorship. The Game Changers initiative is another step in her mission to empower the Black community and beyond.

With Game Changers, Bridgeman is helping lay the groundwork for a future where more young girls can see what’s possible and confidently take their place in the world. For Bridgeman, mentorship is not just a responsibility, but a privilege.
