Fawn Weaver Welcomes Celebrities into the Spirits Industry
Fawn Weaver, the CEO of Uncle Nearest Premium Whiskey, recently shared her thoughts about Beyoncé and LeBron James entering the spirits industry. She encouraged them to “take all of their money” in a bold statement that reflects her commitment to Black-owned businesses. With Uncle Nearest being the best-selling African American-founded spirits brand ever, Weaver knows a thing or two about success in this field.
In a recent Instagram video, Weaver expressed her excitement. Filmed at the Nearest Green Distillery in Shelbyville, Tennessee, she welcomed the “King” and “Queen” of music to the world of spirits. “So many of you have been asking me how I feel about Beyoncé’s whiskey partnership with Moet Hennessy and LeBron’s cognac deal. We have nothing but love for them,” she said while holding two crowns.
Weaver’s advice is not just about financial gain; it also emphasizes the importance of representation in the spirits industry. She reminded her audience of the significant partnerships between major spirit companies and celebrities that often overlook Black ownership. “Big spirit conglomerates partner with big-name celebrities, but we need to make sure these brands are truly Black-owned,” she stated.
A Call for Unity in the Spirits Sector
Weaver’s message of collaboration over competition resonated with many viewers. She encouraged Beyoncé and LeBron to embrace the industry together. “There is enough money for everyone. No scarcity mindset here,” she emphasized. This approach reflects her belief that the spirits sector can thrive when Black entrepreneurs support one another.
In her video, she also reassured her followers that her brand would continue to grow despite the entry of larger names. “They haven’t been able to slow the growth of Uncle Nearest, and they will never be able to because of YOU,” she said. Her confidence stems from the brand’s achievements and the support of the community.
The Legacy of Uncle Nearest Premium Whiskey
Fawn Weaver founded Uncle Nearest Premium Whiskey in 2016, uncovering the story of a previously unknown master distiller. Uncle Nearest was a formerly enslaved man who taught Jack Daniel how to make Tennessee whiskey. This historical connection gives the brand a unique place in American whiskey culture.
Since its launch, Uncle Nearest has achieved several milestones. It has become the fastest-growing American whiskey brand in U.S. history and won numerous awards. In 2021, it was recognized as the most awarded American whiskey, showcasing Weaver’s dedication to quality and craftsmanship.
Beyoncé and LeBron’s New Ventures
As Weaver ‘guides’ Beyoncé and LeBron, both stars have made significant moves in the spirits industry. Beyoncé recently launched her SirDavis American Whiskey, named after her great-grandfather, a Prohibition-era moonshiner. She celebrated its launch with a star-studded party in Paris, which highlights her commitment to heritage and innovation.
Meanwhile, LeBron has partnered with Hennessy for a limited-edition collection. These bottles pay tribute to his influence both on and off the basketball court. LeBron expressed his admiration for Hennessy, emphasizing the brand’s dedication to craftsmanship.
