Keeana Barber, the CEO and founder of WDB Marketing, has made history as the first Black woman to own a Signarama franchise on Chicago’s famous Michigan Avenue. This exciting achievement was marked by a grand opening ceremony for her new downtown location, which is her second Signarama store. Her first store was successful in South Holland, showing her dedication to building a strong business presence.
A Momentous Grand Opening Event
The grand opening was a vibrant celebration attended by notable figures, including Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson, Ald. Pat Dowell, and Arielle Johnson, CEO of the Business Leadership Council. Local business owners, community leaders, and members of the media came together to honor Barber’s accomplishment.
“I am incredibly honored to bring Signarama to Michigan Avenue,” Barber expressed at the event. “This isn’t just about expanding my business; it’s about showing what’s possible for women of color and making an indelible mark on a city that has supported me.” Her words reflect her commitment to inspiring others and breaking barriers.
Building a Legacy in Marketing
Keeana Barber’s journey began in 2006 when she launched WDB Marketing. This agency specializes in branding, graphic design, printing, and promotional services. Over the years, she has earned a reputation for innovation and excellence. Barber has helped many small and medium-sized businesses grow through her creative approach.
With the opening of the new Signarama location, Barber aims to provide a range of customized signage solutions. This includes monument signs, vehicle graphics, banners, and wall murals. Her services will help local businesses stand out in Chicago’s competitive market. Additionally, WDB Marketing will continue to offer digital marketing solutions and promotional products to further support entrepreneurs.
Inspiring the Next Generation
Barber’s success is particularly significant as Black women entrepreneurs are the fastest-growing group of business owners in the United States. However, they often face barriers, such as limited access to funding and resources. Barber’s presence on Michigan Avenue stands as a symbol of resilience and hope for aspiring business owners.
During the grand opening, Mayor Johnson remarked, “It was my honor to welcome WDB Marketing to Chicago this weekend. Owner Keeana Barber represents what’s possible when we invest in Black women-owned businesses.” His support highlights the importance of promoting diversity and inclusion in the business landscape.
