Hallmark Mahogany has long been known for its heartfelt greeting cards that celebrate the Black community. But under the leadership of Alexis Kerr, Vice President of Hallmark Mahogany, the brand has evolved into something much more. It’s now a dynamic lifestyle brand that goes beyond greeting cards to uplift and empower Black women through various platforms and events.
Expanding Beyond Greeting Cards
Alexis Kerr didn’t just settle for continuing Mahogany’s legacy—she aimed to elevate it. Over the past three and a half years, she has transformed Hallmark Mahogany into a brand that resonates deeply with Black women across the nation. The creation of signature platforms like Mahogany Honors and Mahogany Moment has given Black women spaces where they can be celebrated, heard, and truly seen.
“These platforms are more than just events; they are a celebration of our stories and our voices,” Kerr shared. The Mahogany Moment, for example, is more than just a gathering—it’s a conference that focuses on empowering Black women to scale new heights in their personal and professional lives. With speakers from various industries, including AI and creative writing, the event offers insights and networking opportunities that are unmatched.
The Journey to Vice President
Before joining Hallmark, Alexis Kerr had a successful career at Cadillac, where she led multicultural marketing and expanded the brand’s market share among Hispanic and African American communities. Her journey at Hallmark began three and a half years ago, and since then, she has worked tirelessly to reimagine what Mahogany could be.
“I wanted to create a brand that Black women could see themselves in—a brand that honors their stories, struggles, and successes,” Kerr said. Under her leadership, Mahogany has launched a website, produced NAACP-nominated podcasts, and introduced new products that resonate with the community. Kerr’s vision is clear: to make Mahogany a lifestyle brand that supports and uplifts Black women in every aspect of their lives.
Signature Events and Initiatives
One of the key aspects of Kerr’s transformation of Mahogany is the introduction of events like Mahogany Honors and Mahogany Moment. These events are designed to celebrate and empower Black women through meaningful conversations, networking opportunities, and expert panels.
Mahogany Honors, which takes place every March or April, is an event that shines a spotlight on incredible Black women. This year’s honorees included influential figures like Pinky Cole. Mahogany Moment, scheduled for September 29 at the Cobb Galleria in Atlanta, promises to be even bigger and better. Last year, it featured Tabitha Brown as the headliner, and this year, it will include a diverse lineup of speakers and opportunities for attendees to connect with influential women across the U.S.
Empowering Black Women Through Mahogany Moment
The theme for this year’s Mahogany Moment is “Empower Her to Stay Grounded and Scale Higher.” With everything happening in the world, Kerr believes it’s crucial for Black women to stay focused and protect their peace. The event will feature panels on AI, writing, and scaling businesses, offering attendees valuable insights and practical advice.
Kerr is passionate about addressing the unique challenges Black women face today. From the pressure to always be “on” to balancing Black joy with the seriousness of their work, Mahogany Moment provides a platform for real conversations and solutions. Financial experts will also be on hand to offer one-on-one sessions, helping attendees build long-term wealth and manage their finances effectively.
A Visionary Leader with a Heart for Her Community
Alexis Kerr’s journey with Hallmark Mahogany is a testament to her passion for uplifting her community. She has not only expanded the brand but also created a movement that celebrates Black women in all their glory. Her work at Mahogany is far from over, and with events like Mahogany Moment, she continues to inspire and empower Black women to reach new heights.
