Rhasidat Adeleke, the rising star from Dublin, has etched her name in Irish athletics history by claiming gold in the 100m at the National Championships held at Tallaght Stadium. Clocking an impressive 11.13 seconds, Adeleke not only secured victory but also shattered the previous record held by Sarah Lavin of 11.27 seconds.

Road to Glory: From Youth Record to Senior Triumphs

Adeleke’s journey to becoming Ireland’s fastest woman started six years ago when she set the Irish Youth 200-meter record with a time of 23.80 seconds. Since then, she has relentlessly pursued excellence, breaking an astonishing 52 Irish records across various age categories.

Her versatility shines through in both indoor and outdoor events, where she has dominated in the 60m, 200m, and 400m disciplines. Notably, she clinched silver at the European Championships in Rome and set a new Irish 400m record of 49.07 seconds.

Conquering the World Stage: Defeating Champions

Adeleke’s prowess extends beyond national borders as she made headlines by outpacing two World champions in a spectacular 10.84 seconds sprint. Her victories over Britain’s Dina Asher-Smith and St Lucia’s Julien Alfred in global competitions underline her potential as a formidable force in international athletics.
