Black Women Unite Through Sisterhood and Support
Carmen Jones, founder of The Black Girls Social Club, is on a mission to create safe spaces for Black women worldwide. With over 4,000 members across the globe, the club provides a powerful platform for connection, empowerment, and personal growth.
What started as a casual girls’ night in 2019 quickly blossomed into something extraordinary. Jones, a recent Clark Atlanta University graduate, recognized the profound impact of that evening. “I knew this could solve the problem of people being lonely and needing community,” she shares.
A Haven for Self-Expression and Solidarity
“Black women are unique. We deserve our own space, especially since many spaces shut us out.” – Carmen Jones
The Black Girls Social Club offers a sanctuary where Black women can dust off societal expectations and embrace their authentic selves. Whether through yoga, brunch, or activism, members dictate the agenda, fostering a sense of autonomy and sisterhood.
Building Leaders Through Empowerment
“We make leaders. We give opportunities to women who may not have been given the opportunity.” – Carmen Jones
Beyond social events, the club nurtures leadership skills, providing a platform for personal growth. Many chapter leaders have blossomed into confident trailblazers, both within and beyond the club’s boundaries.
Uplifting Through Community Service
Community service is woven into the club’s fabric, reflecting Jones’ upbringing. Members have supported initiatives ranging from breast cancer awareness to fostering young children. Their impact extends far beyond social gatherings, leaving an indelible mark on communities worldwide.
With chapters spanning Atlanta, South Korea, London, and beyond, The Black Girls Social Club continues to flourish. Although each city’s activities may differ, their mission of empowering Black women remains unwavering, forging an unbreakable chain of friendship and solidarity.
