Susan Heyward’s portrayal of Sister Sage, the smartest person alive, in the wildest and most outlandish season of “The Boys” yet, is a captivating addition to the show’s eccentric roster of supes.

As a refreshing new member of The Seven, Sage brings a unique set of skills that prove invaluable to the main antagonist, Homelander (Antony Starr).

Sage’s Genius and Homelander’s Ear

The phrase “listen to Black women” takes on a new meaning in Homelander’s relationship with Sage. He heeds her advice due to her unparalleled intelligence and ability to apply logic to any situation.

Ironically, the narcissistic Homelander takes executive decisions from a literal genius, highlighting the show’s nuanced exploration of complex characters operating in shades of gray.

Heyward’s Enthusiasm and Approach

Heyward, a fan of the series since season one, candidly admits her initial envy of her co-stars’ more physically apparent superpowers. However, she embraces Sage’s power in stillness, finding advantages in her character’s cerebral strength.

“There is a certain power in stillness,” Heyward notes, underscoring Sage’s influence over Homelander and the rest of Vought.

Heyward’s journey from watching “The Boys” with her husband to becoming a central character in season four is a dream come true. As Homelander’s appointed advisor and de facto second-in-command overseeing Vought, Sage’s story arc promises to be one of the season’s highlights.

Don’t Miss the Action

Fans can witness Heyward’s captivating performance when “The Boys” premieres its first three episodes on Prime Video on June 13, 2024, followed by weekly episodes. Prepare for a wild, bloody, and outlandish season with the genius Sister Sage at the center of the action.
