Queen of Diamonds Shines Bright
Rihanna continues to cement her status as a music icon. The Barbadian superstar has etched her name in the history books, becoming the female artist with the most diamond-certified singles.
On Friday, four of her hit songs – “Umbrella,” “Needed Me,” “Work,” and “Stay” – received diamond certifications from the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA), pushing her total diamond singles to an unprecedented seven.
Unparalleled Achievements
With this remarkable feat, Rihanna has officially surpassed all other female artists in the diamond singles category.
In a celebratory post on X, the multi-talented mogul shared a screenshot of her accolades, simply stating, “ain’t no back n forth,” leaving no doubt about her unrivaled position.
The RIAA awards diamond certification to songs that have sold over 10 million units. Among Rihanna’s newly minted diamond hits, “Stay” has achieved an astonishing 11 million units sold, earning it 11x platinum status.
“Umbrella” Ushered in Rihanna’s Prime
The journey to diamond glory began in 2007 with “Umbrella,” the smash hit from her third album, Good Girl Gone Bad.
Featuring Jay-Z, the global phenomenon earned Rihanna her first Grammy for Best Rap/Sung Collaboration and set the stage for her unparalleled success.
“Work” Solidified Her Pop Culture Reign
Fast forward to 2016, and “Work,” the dancehall-infused track featuring Drake from her album Anti, further cemented Rihanna’s pop culture reign. The song surpassed Michael Jackson, securing her position as the artist with the fourth-most U.S. number-one hits.
Rihanna’s versatility shines through in the newly minted diamond singles, “Needed Me” and “Stay.” The former, an electro-R&B banger produced by DJ Mustard, topped multiple Billboard charts, while the latter, a heartfelt ballad featuring Mikky Ekko, marked her 24th top-ten entry on the Hot 100.
Mogul Mindset: Beyond Music
While fans rejoice in Rihanna’s musical milestones, her ventures extend far beyond the recording studio. The savvy entrepreneur has built a formidable empire, with her cosmetics line Fenty Beauty and lingerie brand Savage X Fenty valued at $1.4 billion and $270 million, respectively.
Rihanna’s priorities have expanded to include motherhood, welcoming two sons with partner A$AP Rocky. Yet, she continues to juggle her businesses seamlessly, even expanding Fenty Beauty into the skincare realm while remaining the face of her brands.
The Comeback Anticipation Builds
Despite her hiatus from music since Anti’s release in 2016, rumors of a comeback tour have fans eagerly awaiting Rihanna’s return to the stage.
As she celebrates her diamond achievements, the world eagerly anticipates the next chapter in her legendary career, where she’s sure to continue breaking records and pushing boundaries.
