Oprah Winfrey is a figurehead of daytime talk shows, known for her influential and groundbreaking contributions, and she has recently passed the baton to Sherri Shepherd!
While visiting the Sherri show yesterday, Winfrey bestowed the honor upon her while explaining what her legacy means to her.
She shared that Maya Angelou once told her that she would “have no idea” what her “legacy is going to be.”
“Because what Maya said to me that day in her kitchen, she said it’s every audience member — whoever came and wherever they came from — and they sat in that audience and had an experience. And they went home and they decided, ‘I’m gonna do better,’” Winfrey said.
“It’s every life you touch, so it’s not one thing,” she continued. “So for me to be able to see you, to sit in the seat of your life on your own show with your name on it. It is the passing on.”
“So, you’re officially passing on the baton to me?” Shepherd joked. “I’m passing the baton,” Winfrey confirmed.
Shepherd is a seasoned comedian, actress, and former co-host of “The View” who has been showcasing her ability to engage with diverse topics and audiences on her eponymous show ‘Sherri.’
