Back in June, Harris County officials announced that they are collaborating with Beyoncé and Kelly Rowland to create 31 permanent housing units in Midtown Houston.
Beyoncé’s Renaissance World Tour stops in Houston this weekend and on Friday, but she and her mother made sure to attend the kickoff celebration for the forthcoming Knowles-Rowland House.
“That was exciting for all of us,” Bread of Life’s director of partnerships and development Monique Williams told Houston Public Media of Beyoncé’s support. “She’s a busy lady. She’s doing a couple of other things this weekend. For her to pause and just kind of return home and to be in this space with us and to hear again what more will be done and to see her legacy, I think it was wonderful for everyone to be in that space and share that with her.”
The housing project aims to have case managers and support services like transportation, mental health, physical & behavioral health support.
They are set to use $7.2 million in American Rescue Plan funds to build the complex plus other secured funds. #BWLM💕
