AvaDuVernay is out here just casually making history! This week, she became the first Black American woman in the Venice Film Festival’s 80 years to have a film compete for the Golden Lion.
Her film “Origin,” which stars legend in the making, Aunjanue Ellis-Taylor, and Jon Bernthal, reportedly received a nine-minute standing ovation.
Many believe that based off of this films success so far, Ava could become the first Black woman to be nominated for Best Director at the Oscars.
We will see and keep our fingers crossed for her! 🤞🏾 #BWLM💕
