Rosalind Brewer has stepped down as the CEO of Walgreens after less than 3 years in the position.
The retailer said that it was a mutual decision between both parties. Brewer also stepped down as a member of the company’s board.
According to @CNN, Brewer’s exit comes after a tumultuous year with Walgreens’ stock performance. Shares are reportedly down 32% so far this year. “Walgreens slashed its full-year profit guidance in June, warning of softening consumer spending and a pullback in demand for Covid vaccines,” CNN reports.
Brewer was appointed to the CEO position at Walgreens in March 2021. Just before that, she had been named COO and group president of Starbucks. She was the second-highest-ranking executive at Starbucks after CEO Kevin Johnson and the first African American as well as the first woman to become the COO and group president of Starbucks.
She is clearly a very qualified woman, and will find an even sweeter position to be in. 🫶🏾 #BWLM💕
