Jamaica Becomes First Caribbean Nation To Reach Round 16 In Women’s World Cup

Jamaica’s Independence Day is coming up on August 6th and their football ⚽️ team is giving them even more to celebrate!

The @reggaegirlzfoundation has advanced to the knockout round of the FIFA Women’s World Cup for the first time in team history after reaching a 0-0 draw against Brazil! It is also the first time that a Caribbean nation has achieved this.

“Just to see these girls, and to see a country like Jamaica, be able to do this, it’s unbelievable to just watch it while I’m alive right here standing,” Coach Lorne Donaldson said. “I thank you girls to do this for the country, and the country should be proud.”

The team that they will be facing off against on August 8th has yet to be determined.
