R&B singer #Monica, lovingly known as Goonica, paused a recent show after she witnessed a man punching a woman during her show at the Detroit Riverfront Music Festival on July 22.
She spoke with @CNN this week where she addressed the situation and explained why she felt compelled to act.
“Simply put, I didn’t want to see her hurt or harmed, and her not make it back home after coming just to be a concertgoer for myself and Ashanti (who also played at the festival),” she said.
Monica added that she doesn’t feel like a “superhero” for checking the male fan, because “I did what I hope someone would do if they saw that happening to my aunt or mother.”
