New York City has agreed to pay out over $13 million to 1,300 people who protested during #GeorgeFloyd’s murder in 2020.
The lawsuit states that police acted unlawfully, thus, violating the rights of the protesters between May and June 2020.
The city will now pay about $9,950 each to “up to about 1,380 people who ‘were arrested and/or subjected to force by N.Y.P.D. officers’ at 18 specific locations in Manhattan and Brooklyn,” the Times reports.
