On May 1st, 2023, a tragic incident occurred on the New York City subway that resulted in the death of #JordanNeely and it was all caught on video. #DanielPenny, a 24-year-old Marine, was identified as the killer and was arrested for choking and killing Neely on the train.

According to reports, Penny, who was sitting across from Neely in the NYC subway, suddenly became aggressive. The attack was said to be unprovoked, and Neely did not appear to know Penny. Penny choked Neely until he was unconscious, and despite the efforts of fellow passengers, Neely could not be revived.

The incident has sparked outrage and shock throughout the city, and the world, with many calling for justice for Neely and his family.

Penny released a statement tonight through his attorneys.

“Earlier this week Daniel Penny was involved in a tragic incident on the NYC Subway, which ended in the death of Jordan Neely. We would first like to express, on behalf of Daniel Penny, our condolences to those close to Mr. Neely,” the statement begins.

“Mr Neely had a documented history of violent and erratic behavior, the apparent result of ongoing and untreated mental illness. When Mr Neely began aggressively threatening Daniel Penny and the other passengers, Daniel, with the help of others, acted to protect themselves, until help arrived. Daniel never intended to harm Mr Neely and could not have foreseen his untimely death.”

“For too long, those suffering from mental illness have been treated with indifference. We hope that out of this awful tragedy will come a new commitment by our elected officials to address the mental health crisis on our streets and subways.”

The death of Jordan Neely is a tragedy, and our thoughts go out to his family and loved ones during this difficult time. #BWLM💕
