Dr. Marian Croak is an inspiring and trailblazing figure in the tech world. She has tackled some of the biggest challenges facing the industry, from improving voice communication to pioneering the development of 5G technology. Her contributions continue to impact us everyday and you probably don’t even know it!
Dr. Croak’s technological journey began in the 1980s when she started working for AT&T Bell Laboratories, studying ways that technology could enhance human lives. There, she developed and patented Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP), which revolutionized communication by enabling people to make phone calls over the internet.
This invention has since become the industry standard and has paved the way for countless technological advancements, such as video conferencing and streaming services like Zoom or even a Skype and Meta. Croak was inducted into the National Inventors Hall of Fame in 2022 for it.
