#KarenBass was sworn in as the 43rd mayor of Los Angeles on Sunday in a historic inauguration, becoming the first woman and second Black person to lead the city.
Bass was sworn in by Vice President #KamalaHarris, a former California senator and the first black woman to serve as the nation’s second-in-command.
During her inaugural speech, Ms. Bass said her first act would be to declare a state of emergency on homelessness.
