Phoenix Mercury player #BrittanyGriner is still being detained in Russia, but she was able to release a statement which gave insight to how she’s feeling during this terrible time. In her statement, Griner pleads to #PresidentBiden to get her out of jail.
“I realize you are dealing with so much, but please don’t forget about me and the other detainees,” Griner said via statement from her representatives. “Please do all you can to bring us home.”
In the handwritten letter, Griner also notes her father being a Vietnam War veteran.
“On the 4th of July, our family normally honors the service of those men who fought for our freedom, including my father who is a Vietnam War Veteran,” another excerpt read. “It hurts thinking about how I usually celebrate this day because freedom means something completely different to me this year.”
Prayerfully, the United States can reach an agreement with Russia to get the basketball star out of jail and back home. #BWLM💕
