Artist and curator Lady Pheønix developed Breonna’s Garden in unity with #BreonnaTaylor’s family as a revolutionary framework for showing respect to them through augmented reality (AR).

The project’s development began after Lady Pheønix learned that Ju’Niyah Palmer (Breonna’s younger sister) received death threats while publicly grieving her sister’s murder on Instagram.
Through various discussions and witnessing hardship, they concluded that safe space was needed to properly grieve Taylor’s departure from the world.

The garden has grown from being a healing tool for Ju’Niyah and her family into a healing tool for the nation becoming immensely to encompass augmented reality (AR), virtual reality (VR), and other physical mediums, touching the hearts of communities across the country.

Breonna’s Garden has received many acknowledgments including the Tribeca Film Festival, the Perez Art Museum Miami, and the Augmented World Expo, where Breonna’s Garden won the Best Societal Impact Award as a PGA finalist. It was also nominated for both an Aurea Top 50 award in Immersive Entertainment and Unity Award for Best Social Impact, as well as SXSW.

Throughout June, the beautiful sanctuary where people can come and be at peace to grieve and uplift the name Breonna Taylor is now available in her hometown of Louisville in partnership with the Roots 101 African American Museum. #BWLMđź’•
