Congratulations are in order for Remy Ma! She was honored as part of the Bronx Walk of Fame with her own street sign. During her ceremony, the Terror Squad rapper was joined by Fat Joe, her husband Papoose, Bronx borough president Vanessa L. Gibson and deputy president Janet Peguero.
As a Bronx native, many of Remy’s formative years played out not too far from where her sign now stands. It is part of a 23-block corridor that started in 1997 and she broke down the many moments that happened in nearby areas. Remy also shared how grateful she was and expressed how much she’s looking forward to the next phases of her life and career.
“I debuted one of the biggest songs of my career in the stadium behind where that sign is. I appreciate and am so thankful for where I am,” Remy stated in an Instagram post. “I wouldn’t change a thing about where I’ve come from, and I’m excited to see where I’m going. Thank you, Bronx Borough President @msvanessa77 and Deputy Borough President @jpegnyc, for this honor.”
Remy’s sign is solidified amongst other icons from the Bronx who have their own street signs such as Rita Moreno, Colin Powell, KRS-One, Kool DJ Red Alert, Kurtis Blow, Luther Vandross, Grandmaster Caz, Swizz Beatz, and Kid Capri. Fat Joe himself was honored with the distinction in 2012.
The honor for Remy also came just one day after celebrating 14 years of wedded bliss with her husband Papoose. Her addition to this walk of fame is well deserved. She’s always repping where she came from and has contributed to the culture as an entertainer and Bronx native in abundance. We are very happy for her. Congrats, Remy! #BWLM💕
