Capt. Sandy Campbell has traveled all over the globe as a merchant mariner and seafarer as a Black woman in a male-dominated industry. Now, she has started her own business where she curates travel experiences, coaches those interested in solo travel, and consults as a travel advisor through her newly launched website SandysSuitcase.com.
Sandy’s years of journeying on the ocean liners where she lived and worked awakened Campbell’s love for travel. So far, she has traveled to 56 countries, five continents, and most Caribbean islands which has given her a tremendous amount of exposure to different cultures. She always vowed to come back one day to explore what these places had to offer.
“In the beginning, blogging was an outlet for me, a way of keeping a record of my travels from around the world,” Campbell tells @BlackNews. “But what’s really important to me now is giving people who want to get their feet wet in the traveling pool the resources they need to do that.”
She continued, “Traveling for work has exposed me to so many wonderful places, and it’s made me want to share my love of travel and all the knowledge I’ve gained doing it with other people.”
Captain Cambell is well versed in taking on challenges and breaking down barriers, sharing her many diverse stories and descriptive narratives of her travels on her website. She hopes to help those who want to grow as travelers and share her growing love for travel through sharing her story. #BWLM💕
