Riding in on the tail of #BlackMaternalHealthWeek (April 11-17th), founder of #CarolsDaughter@iamlisaprice and famed Doula Latham Thomas – glowmaven who is the founder of #MamaGlowFoundation announced they would continue to join forces heading into year two for the Black Maternal Health Initiative will continue to set its focus on providing access to doula care for Black birthing people.

Pregnant or recently postpartum birthing people located in NYC (Metro-Area), Miami, Los Angeles, Atlanta, and Washington, D.C. are currently eligible to apply to receive complimentary Doula services.

The CDC published that Black women die of pregnancy-related causes at a rate 3x higher than those of white women (keep in mind – 60% of these deaths are preventable). These disparities were in part why #LoveDelivered was established, but also as a form of protection and a way to empower, support and show love to Black birthing people and babies when they need it most.

Mama Glow founder and CEO, Latham Thomas said during the announcement, “We celebrate the triumphs, our collective solutions, and our self-determination. Birth is meant to be transcendent, and we all deserve to experience empowerment through birth. The doula grants made possible through the three-year $225,000 commitment from Carol’s Daughter, further the mission to support safe, healthy and joyful birth outcomes for Black families in need.”

We love to see it. This, beats philanthropy at its best. We hope to see this initiative go far beyond what the creators fathom.

Have you had a doula? Are you or someone you know a doula? What were some of your triumphs with your Black creation and birthing process? #BWLM💕
