#AishaNyandoro the founding CEO of Springboard to Opportunities, was featured on Closer Look’s ‘Paycheck to Paycheck’ series and spoke about the Magnolia Mother’s Trust. It’s the longest-running guaranteed income program in the U.S. for Black mothers.

The program is run under her nonprofit ’Springboard to Opportunities’ and first launched the Magnolia Mother’s Trust in Jackson, Mississippi to address the need and the lack of social safety in the U.S. for Black women.

During the interview, Nyandoro states, “We don’t have a federal minimum wage for individuals to make, to have a liveable income.”

Also serving on the board of Georgia’s In Her Hands, Nyandoro discusses that since starting in 2018, her program has supported 220 women by providing them with $ 1,000 a month, $12,000 a year without restrictions. This program has changed women’s lives, allowing them to pay off debt, enroll in school, and find better jobs.

Nyandoro’s next cohort is looking to start this spring and support 100 mothers in Jackson. She started with a purpose to make a change and has been growing every year since helping those in need. #BWLM💕
